GamCare’s new code makes games safer.
GamCare is a UK organization that helps gamblers. They’ve unveiled a new Code of Conduct for land-based casinos.
The new Code of Conduct aims to enable people who have been damaged by gaming or who have a gambling addiction obtain help. Putting instructional messages in places where people bet will aid those who need it. Land-based gamblers will see informational signs with a QR code to GamCare’s website.
Land-based gambling spots will display safe and responsible gambling information. The new Code of Conduct aims to make it easier to find help and treatment. The industry has done this before. GamCare’s March 2021 Industry Code for Safer Gambling Information is an example.
Michael Dugher, CEO of BGC, supported the new Code of Conduct because it will make it easier for people to receive information and treatment services. All Council member stores would have the signs, he said. Dugher concluded, “This code underlines the industry’s commitment to making gambling safer for millions of UK customers. Our online members did comparable efforts.”
“The BGC welcomes the new GamCare Code, which will make sure that all of our members’ land-based gaming venues have clear, prominent, and easy-to-find information about safer gambling and help and support.”
Matt Burgiss, who oversees GamCare’s industry codes project, said National Gambling Helpline data suggested gamblers sought greater information and help at land-based locations. Last, he stated the new Code of Conduct will help retail gambling tourists.
GamCare knows that callers to the National Gambling Helpline commonly discuss land-based gambling concerns and that more can be done to help them.
The BGC recently liked how Lloyds Bank limited debit card gambling. The bank revealed a pilot Friday that lets users establish gambling restrictions. The BGC said the ruling helped its members promote responsible gambling.
