Century Entertainment will reintroduce table games in December
Century Entertainment hopes to recover from a difficult year. The Cambodian table gaming operator ended the six-month period on September 30 with HK5.84 million ($747,000) in debt, down 72% from the previous year. The outcomes are attributed to Cambodia’s casino closures and the corporation’s attempts to reintroduce table games.
Century Entertainment may plan this for December, the most likely month. Before relaunching table gambling, the company had to settle legal issues and verify COVID compliance.
In an update, the company said the business should be back on track in 2023 and table games should pick up in December and continue to do so. Century Entertainment plans to move its casinos to Dara Sakor in Koh Kong Province, which is under construction.
After a series of Cambodian casino industry examinations, Century Entertainment decided to exit to ensure transparency, lawfulness, and competitiveness.
Ng Man Sun, the company’s chairman and CEO, runs a casino in Sihanoukville. The company relocated due to a better offer. Ng was a controversial Macau gambler.
Despite a delayed recovery, the company expects to make a profit in November 2023. If no major events occur in Cambodia and the surrounding region, Century will recover.
Cambodia also wants to be removed from the FATF’s grey list, arguing that it has taken considerable steps to combat money laundering, human trafficking, and other crimes.
