PENN Entertainment and HBCUs have expanded their STEM scholarship program.
The casino operator has partnered with three new participation education centers. Jackson State University in Mississippi, Prairie View A&M University in Texas, and Southern University and A&M College in Louisiana.
PENN will donate more than $4 million over five years to finance STEM scholarships. As well as internships at six HBCUs in states where the corporation operates.
The first HBCUs were Norfolk State University in Virginia, Bowie State University in Maryland, and Wilberforce University in Ohio.
“As a company at the forefront of technology, we launched this program to increase access to STEM opportunities for HBCU students and create real-world, hands-on learning experiences.” said Justin Carter, Senior Vice President of Regional Operations and Chair of PENN Entertainment’s diversity committee.
These three prominent universities enhance our efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our operations.
We are committed to bridging the representation gap and enabling students in this program for years to come as STEM jobs grow.
PENN Entertainment reported “another outstanding quarter” for the third quarter. Also praised an omnichannel approach that “continues to drive growth” and excellent year-over-year interactive improvements earlier this month.
Jay Snowden, CEO and President, cited the “successful” introduction of retail and online sports betting in Kansas and early success in Ontario as Q3 highlights in an uncertain economic climate.
