The Gaming Commission Chairman, Ronnie Johns, said that everyone was enthusiastic about this since they had been waiting for it and the idea was amazing.
Foundations Chief Operations and Marketing Operator Les McMackin stated the property will be entirely restored.
“As you can see, the building that was erected in 1994 and now has been vacant for the previous two years, it’s going to require a lot of the infrastructure to be changed, restored, or to simply start over with it,” he said.
Rebranding will include renaming the 26-acre site. McMackin released refurbishment details without revealing the company’s new name. He said the upgrades would include a 405-room hotel, a 47,000-square-foot casino, and three eateries. Pools, spas, and other fun facilities will be featured.
McMackin added, “That’ll include the sports wagering, the live entertainment events center that will have roughly 300 seats, we’ll have a VIP lounge, we’ll have over a thousand slots, fifty tables, both electronic and live.”
This initiative will boost the Bossier City market and neighborhood. McMackin said clients need something new and can anticipate a pleasant experience.
The space will be open and inviting to encourage mixing.
“We’ve put together what we feel will be a wonderful product for the market and the community,” said Foundation Co-CEO Greg Guida.
The District 2 casino’s Democratic state Representative Sem Jenkins, Bossier City Major Thomas Chandler, and Bossier Parish Police Jury favor the project.
Jenkins welcomed the casino’s return, which will boost Shreveport-economy. Bossier’s It will increase tourism and jobs, which is great.
Diamond Jacks closed in spring 2020 due to COVID-19. Peninsula never planned to restart the Bossier City casino.
