Pascua Yaqui envisions a Tucson casino.
A new gaming agreement between the State of Arizona. its 22 tribes allows the Pascua Yaqui Tribe to have a third casino in Tucson.
First casino downtown:
Congress granted Pascua Yaqui permission to utilize an abandoned movie theater on Grant near I-10 and land surrounding it.
Now that it owns the land, the Tribe may develop the casino.
The Grant near I-10 location is the closest to downtown Tucson. They’re making the potential new casino the closest to the city center. Also easier for players across the city to notice.
However, a precise strategy of projected clients or new positions has not been established.
Once the casino opens, Blessed Grounds Coffee Shops at Grant and Fairview is expected to thrive.
“We are a tremendous family here and we simply love on the neighborhood,” said Blessed Grounds Coffee Shops manager Amy Prillaman. So I think any chance we get to broaden our client base is another chance to positively impact the lives of Tucson residents and the casino. I view it as a potential partnership and something lovely to come.”
“A big portion of inert land can weigh down an area but it’s a great stimulant for the whole area when a big new enterprise comes in,” said Tucson Metro Chamber President and CEO Michael Guymon.
“You bring back activity to a major site like that, and as you just said, there are employees but also a lot of persons driving into that region that had historically not driven into that area. I hope some property owners and businesses will see that and invest and open new operations there.”
