Hard Rock’s payroll is getting close to 50,000
About 3,500 MGM employees went to bed over the weekend and woke up or ended their shifts as HRI employees. Also joining 45,000 other employees of the iconic international hospitality and entertainment corporation.
With the transfer of operations, a new leasing agreement, and HRI’s $1.075b cash payment to MGM, little will change immediately.
Steve Wynn’s 1980s-founded Mirage Hotel & Casino will be rebranded Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas in phases.
No date has been specified for MGM’s three-year license of the Mirage brand name to HRI. Hard Rock doesn’t have to use Mirage.
HRI purchased MGM’s operational assets and inked a long-term lease with VICI Venues at the same price MGM was paying the real estate investment trust for several gaming sites acquired for resale to gambling operators.
Hard Rock International chairman Jim Allen greeted the new family members and thanked Nevada gaming officials for letting Hard Rock join the Strip’s first tribal gaming organization.
Allen stated, “We welcome The Mirage’s 3,500 employees to the 45,000-strong Hard Rock family today. Thank you to the Nevada Gaming Control Board and Nevada Gaming Commission for granting us a gaming license to operate The Mirage Hotel and Casino.” This fantastic entertainment town deserves a Strip integrated resort.
Visitors and businesses won’t have to do anything because the new operators will handle reservations and group bookings behind the scenes. Cirque Du Soleil will keep performing. Hard Rock won’t close facilities during changeover.
The old hotel will be destroyed in slow-motion, time-lapse archetypal hero journey of ontogenesis.
MGM CEO and president Bill Hornbuckle praised Mirage personnel for 30 years and welcomed Hard Rock to The Strip. “Over the past three decades, Mirage staff have offered unparalleled service and experiences,” he stated.
“I’m excited about the property, its personnel, and the Las Vegas Strip’s prospects with this magnificent site now under Hard Rock’s leadership.” Accept hard rock.
