Cashless Gaming soon be available in Australia

Sydney’s largest casino supports the Premier’s plans to modify the state’s 95,000 poker machines. Dominic Perrottet will enable cashless technologies. It encourages NSW bars and clubs to adapt.

Gambling debate:

The reform argument was interesting: the Star Entertainment Group told the Herald that the corporation has spent millions of dollars developing and implementing cashless technologies, but the results won’t be obvious until casinos and pubs accept the reforms.

NSW’s leading gambling authority, Pyrmont, has poker machine exclusivity. Including bars and clubs, these machines make only 2% of all machines in the states.

In November, the corporation planned to require cashless gaming cards in clubs and pubs, although we don’t know when.

ClubsNSW and the Australian Hotels Association were unhappy with this conclusion and threatened pro-reform MPs ahead of the March 25 state elections.

Star spokesperson: “The Star has fewer than 2% of NSW’s gaming machines, with the rest in clubs and bars. How can the government handle difficulties and achieve its goals unless cashless is adopted industry-wide and quickly? The Star supports the government’s cashless play industrywide initiative.

Gambling reform activists have praised this comment, but big pubs and clubs will likely try to get other sector heavyweights to align with casinos.

Crown Resorts, the Star at Barangaroo’s primary competitor, partnered with the NSW Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority to go cashless in May 2021.

After three months of money laundering and counter-terrorism allegations, the regulator forced the Crown to make these modifications to restore its casino license. In addition to the $100 penalties, Nicholas Weeks manages Star Entertainment.

Last Thursday, Treasurer Matt Kean proposed raising taxes. Since Victoria’s top tax rate will be 60.67 percent in July 2019, poker machines will bring a lot. These restrictions will only affect the state’s casinos, not pubs and clubs.
